Mastering Architecture Diagrams and Technical Presentations: A Data Architect’s Guide
How to create impactful technical presentations and diagrams that effectively communicate complex ideas with precision and storytelling

Last weekend, I was catching up with a close friend of mine about the latest happenings in tech. Although his background isn’t in computer science, he’s very much into tech and the latest buzz. We talked about everything from the new iPhone release to the latest Open AI o1 model. He casually asked me how GPTs worked, and I tried to explain, pretending to be an expert :)
No matter how much I tried, I couldn’t explain it in a way that made sense to him. I could clearly see I was losing his attention as he started focusing on his WhatsApp messages. Then I decided to draw a diagram — after all, they say, “A picture speaks a thousand words.” I opened Excalidraw, my go-to drawing tool with a super cool interface that makes diagrams look hand-drawn, and tried to explain to him using a diagram, about GPT architecture and how LLMs worked. I quickly grabbed his attention back, and he left with a wealth of information (and a bunch of startup ideas ;) )
It got me thinking, why not make this an idea for my next blog and so here I am!
